Module 1 — Step 1

How to Structure Your Site

What is the ELF Model?

Some Key Points

Website structure or architecture is crucial for guiding users towards taking specific actions on a site. The ELF model (Emotion, Logic, Fear) is a powerful framework for structuring websites effectively:

  • Emotion-driven decision-makers prioritize quick decisions based on positive emotions; emotional content should be placed at the top of the website to capture their attention.
  • Logic-driven decision-makers seek detailed information before making a decision; written content providing benefits, usage statistics, and course details should be placed in the middle of the website.
  • Fear-driven decision-makers are motivated by FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) or potential negative consequences; content addressing urgency or potential losses should be placed at the bottom of the website to prompt action.
